 In Australia, floods occur. Here are a couple of maps showing where. Note that there are floods in Western Australia. This is because of the heavy rain often associated with monsoons, which come from the Indian Ocean, which is next to Western Australia.

The map above shows run off water in Australia.  In the picture above, floods shown are from 1985 to 2006.
Floods are most commonly occur in coastal areas, because of overflow of water from the ocean. They are also popular on the coast of Western Australia, because of the heavy rainfall often associated with Monsoon winds. The rest of the floods ccur either because of heavy rainfall, weak soil, or broken levees.
